Woven Vessels
Handwoven Burial Vessels Made from Sustainably Sourced Natural Materials
-
Our primary craft materials include: rattan, sea grass, water hyacinth, pandan leaf, banana plant fiber, and bamboo. Woven by experienced, knowledgeable artisans, all of our crafting materials have appropriate tensile strengths for building burial vessels.
All of the dyes, glues and finishes we use are natural.
All of our vessels come with a 100% unbleached cotton liner, an unbleached cotton sheet, and a cotton pillow and resting pad filled with kapok (ceiba tree silk).

When it is possible, Natural Burial Vessels Company will try to accommodate your customization needs. As long as the natural materials we use can answer the customization vision, then we’ll do our best to make it happen.

We truck-ship to the door throughout the Pacific Northwest and West Coast. We Air Cargo ship to all urban airports throughout the rest of the United States. If you receive a shipment at an airport, it’s straightforward to pick-up the shipment at an airline’s air cargo terminal. While our burial vessels are strong and sturdy, they’re also light-weight for easy lifting. (Contact us to work out air cargo pick-up arrangements.)
Packaging and shipping costs are included in all direct-to-consumer sales. Most orders reach their destination—or an airport nearby—within 24–72 hours.
Customers who collect purchases from either of our Portland, Oregon, sales locations receive a discount reflecting the packaging and shipping costs saved.
It’s useful to know that you may purchase your own casket, carrier, urn or shroud that meets objective standards of size and safety from any source. Allowing families the latitude to make their own decisions about what products are appropriate to represent their deceased loved ones is one of the ways funeral homes demonstrate their care for families.
